TQC SHEEN BAKER APPLICATORS

The cylindrical TQC Sheen Baker Film Applicators are high-quality tools used to apply a controlled, uniform wet film of coatings, paints, inks and other liquid formulations onto test panels and substrates. With a calibrated slot gap, Baker applicators produce reproducible film thicknesses needed for performance testing, including viscosity, dry film thickness, colour evaluation, cure testing and adhesion assessments. Their rugged build and precise machining make them suitable for both manual and automatic draw down, ensuring consistent sample preparation every time.

This method helps produce consistent wet film coatings that are suitable for downstream testing and quality control.

Range of Baker applicators 

Each Baker Applicator has four sides of defined gap sizes to apply consistent film thicknesses. The Baker applicator is also known as the cylindrical film applicator and it is available in various film widths for a variety of sample sizes.  

Our Baker applicators are available in film widths of 60 mm, 80 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm and gap sizes of 15 up to 200 µm. They’re suitable for applying a host of different products to flat and relatively solid substrates.

All applicators are made from high-grade stainless steel, with an accuracy of ± 2 µm. 

Note: The total applicator width is the film width + 2 x 20 mm feet. 

** The VF1560 has the total width of the film + 2 x 10 mm feet. 

Due to physical reasons, the maximum film thickness applied is not equal to the gap size. The deposited film thickness may vary from 40% to 80% of the gap size. Also note that the dry film thickness will be lower than wet thickness due to solvent or water evaporation.
