Description
- Place the Ford cup securely in a leveled (tripod) stand. Ensure the stand and cup are completely horizontal to guarantee consistent and accurate flow measurements.
- Close the bottom orifice with your finger to prevent the liquid from draining during filling.
- Fill the cup completely with the test liquid until slightly overflowing. Pour slowly to avoid air bubbles.
- Level off the surface using a clean glass plate or scraper to create a perfectly flush liquid level, as required for ASTM D1200 testing.
- Remove your finger from the orifice and simultaneously start the timer as the liquid begins to drain.
- Stop the timer at the first visible break in the continuous fluid stream. This “flow-break” point defines the official flow time.
- Convert the flow time to kinematic viscosity (cSt) using a viscosity conversion chart or disc.
- High-precision laboratory Ford cup for standardized viscosity measurements
- Titanium-anodized aluminium body with fixed stainless-steel nozzle
- Designed for use in a leveling tripod stand
- Produces reliable, repeatable flow times
- Suitable for paints, coatings, lacquers, varnishes, and related liquids
- Ideal for quality control and formulation work
- Supplied in a protective plastic storage case
- Durable construction with excellent chemical resistance
