Description
The TQC Viscosity Cup ASTM D1084 D4212 Immersion Zahn is a range of stainless steel viscosity cups with fixed stainless steel inner cavity nozzle and handle, designed to measure the viscosity of paints, coatings, lacquers, oils and other similar fluids. Manufactured from high-quality stainless steel (SS303) with a fixed orifice nozzle and long loop handle, this series of Zahn cups allows quick, on-site or production-floor viscosity checks. The cups are delivered complete with protective storage case, making them robust, portable and ideal for both manufacturing environments and quality-control labs.
⸻
How it Works
- Immerse the Zahn cup completely into the liquid to be tested, using the long handle for safe handling.
- Lift the cup vertically from the fluid — ensure steady motion to avoid turbulence.
- Start a timer the moment the fluid begins to drain from the orifice.
- Record the flow time until the steady stream breaks (flow break).
- Convert the measured flow time to kinematic viscosity (cSt) using a viscosity-conversion chart or disc.
- For consistent and reliable results, perform the test at a controlled temperature and ensure sample homogeneity before measurement.
This dip-and-drain method provides a simple, reliable and rapid estimation of fluid viscosity — ideal for routine quality control, viscosity checks during production or before application, and quick adjustments when needed.
