Description

The TQC Sheen Machu Test Bath is a precision thermal immersion system designed to support controlled temperature exposure of paints, coatings, adhesives and other test samples. By providing an accurately regulated water bath environment, this instrument enables consistent testing under defined thermal conditions — essential for evaluating properties such as thermal stability, cure behaviour, water resistance, and temperature‑related deformation. The TQC Sheen Machu Test Bath was developed to offer fast and realistic corrosion analysis on metal test panels according to Qualicoat specifications. Its robust construction and intuitive controls support efficient sample preparation and reproducible test conditions.

How It Works

• Prepare the test panels (powder-coated norm-sized panels or partial construction pieces) by making a 1 mm X-cross cut (Andreas cut) down to the bare substrate.
• Fully submerge the prepared panels in solution A or B at 37 °C inside a suitable plastic container.
• Place the plastic container in the Machu Test Bath to warm the solution au bain-marie style.
• Leave the panels in the solution for 24 hours to ensure full exposure.
• Remove the panels, rinse with fresh water, and allow to dry.
• Carefully peel away any loose coating along the edges of the X-cross using a Stanley knife or similar tool.
• Measure the largest undermined areas, from the cut edge to the point of coating detachment, and record the results.
  Acceptance criteria:
  •Qualicoat: < 0.5 mm on both sides of the X-cut
  •GSB: d_max ≤ 1 mm
  This procedure ensures consistent, repeatable evaluation of coating adhesion under controlled chemical and thermal exposure.
