Description
The TQC Sheen BS Viscosity Cups are precision laboratory instruments used to measure the viscosity of paints, coatings, varnishes and similar liquids. Manufactured from high-quality anodized aluminum, these cups are designed to deliver accurate and repeatable flow time results when used with a tripod stand, stopwatch and controlled test conditions.
Designed in accordance with BS 3900: Part A6, 1971. This specification is replaced by BS EN ISO 2431/8S3900 part A6:1996 – see BS EN ISO 2431 series of cups.
⸻
How It Works
- Place the viscosity cup in a dedicated tripod or ring stand, ensuring it is level and stable.
- Block the nozzle opening and carefully fill the cup with the test liquid to the rim.
- Remove excess material to ensure a flat liquid surface.
- Simultaneously unblock the nozzle and start the timer.
- Stop the timer when the continuous flow of liquid breaks at the nozzle.
- Record the flow time in seconds and, if required, convert it to kinematic viscosity (cSt) using a conversion chart or disc.
This laboratory flow cup method provides controlled, repeatable viscosity measurements and is suitable for comparative testing and quality control under standardized conditions.
