Description
The TQC Sheen Specific Gravity Cups (Pycnometer) are precision density measurement tools engineered to determine the specific gravity or relative density of liquid materials such as paints, coatings, inks, solvents and other formulated liquids. Specific gravity is a key quality parameter that influences application performance, dosing accuracy and product consistency. These cups provide a simple and reliable way to measure density by accurately comparing the mass of a known volume of liquid against the mass of an equal volume of water.
Utilised in laboratories, quality control departments and production environments, these pycnometer cups offer repeatable results and help ensure formulation compliance, batch uniformity and flow property consistency. Available in various calibrated volumes, the cups support a wide range of measurement needs.
⸻
How It Works
- Select the specific gravity cup with the required calibrated volume for your measurement.
- Weigh cleaned empty density cup and record weight
- Fill the cup with the test liquid up to the designated fill mark, ensuring no air bubbles are present.
- Wipe any excess off the rim and weigh the cup with the liquid.
- Empty and clean the cup, then weigh the empty cup to determine its mass.
- Calculate the specific gravity (density= weight of filled cup (g) – weight of empty cup (g) ./. volume of density cup (ml)
- Apply any necessary temperature corrections according to your internal quality procedures.
This method provides accurate and repeatable specific gravity values that support formulation consistency and quality control.
