Description

The TQC Sheen DIN 53211 Immersion Viscosity Cup is a dip/immersion-type flow cup designed to measure the viscosity of paints, coatings, lacquers, inks and other liquid coatings. Available in durable titanium-anodized aluminum or stainless-steel variants, each cup is equipped with a fixed stainless-steel nozzle and a long loop handle. The cup is portable and ideal for quick viscosity checks directly in containers or vats — suitable for production-floor use, quality control or site-inspection.
The Ø 4 mm orifice is according to DIN 53211, there are different sizes available where the inner dimensions are similar to DIN 53211.
How it Works
  1. Immerse the cup completely into the liquid to be tested, using the long handle for safe handling.
  2. Lift the cup vertically from the liquid and simultaneously start timing as the liquid begins to drain through the nozzle.
  3. Record the flow time until the liquid stream breaks (flow-break point).
  4. Use a viscosity conversion chart or disc to convert flow time to kinematic viscosity (in cSt).
  5. For consistent and reliable results: ensure the fluid is homogeneous, test temperature is stable, and repeat the measurement if required.
This “dip-and-drain” method offers a quick and practical way to estimate viscosity — ideal for routine quality control, production checks, or pre-application inspection of coatings and fluids.
