Description

The TQC Sheen DIN 53211 Immersion Viscosity Cup is a professional dip-type viscosity cup designed for fast and reliable measurement of paints, coatings, lacquers, inks, and other liquid products. Equipped with a fixed stainless-steel nozzle and a long loop handle, it allows users to quickly assess viscosity directly from containers, tanks, or vats.
Available in titanium-anodized aluminum, stainless steel, and laboratory-grade DR10 versions, this cup is built for durability, chemical resistance, and consistent performance in industrial or laboratory environments.
How it Works
  1. Mount the viscosity cup securely in a tripod or leveling stand and make sure the cup is perfectly horizontal and level. Use a spirit level to verify alignment.
  2. Close the bottom orifice with your finger to prevent flow while filling.
  3. Pour the test liquid into the cup until it is completely full and slightly overflowing. Take care to avoid entrained air or bubbles.
  4. Level off the excess fluid with a clean glass plate or straightedge so the liquid surface is exactly flush with the cup rim. Remove any droplets from the outside of the cup.
  5. Remove your finger from the orifice and start the timer simultaneously as the liquid begins to flow.
  6. Stop the timer at the first visible break in the steady stream — this is the official flow time.
  7. Convert the measured flow time to kinematic viscosity (cSt) using the appropriate conversion chart or disc, and record the result.
  8. Repeat the measurement (minimum three times) under the same controlled temperature conditions and take the average for best accuracy.
This tripod/stand method eliminates tilting and handling errors and ensures highly repeatable.
