Description

It simulates real-world wear by applying a controlled mechanical scrubbing action to coated test panels, allowing manufacturers to assess coating durability, adhesion and surface performance. This tester is widely used in quality control, product development and research environments to compare formulations, verify compliance with internal specifications and ensure consistent coating performance. The test is either used as a “pass or fail” test by testing to a specified number of strokes or defining the minimum number of strokes at which a coating fails by checking at regular intervals. How It Works
- A coated test panel is securely mounted onto the testing platform.
- A defined scrubbing medium, brush or abrasive pad is positioned above the test surface.
- The tester applies a controlled, reciprocating scrubbing motion at a preset speed and stroke length.
- The test continues for a defined number of cycles or until coating failure is observed.
- Results are evaluated based on visual wear, film breakdown, loss of gloss or substrate exposure.
